Matthew 18:20
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
Last Sunday I taught this verse to the kids at my church as a devotion. I am not sure how I got on this verse because this was not my original plan. My original plan was to talk about Isaiah 6:9 which says, “For unto us a child is born. Unto us a son is given..”
I was not upset about it because God placed that verse on my heart. There was about maybe seven or ten kids usually there would be more than that. I believe this is how we got to this verse. So I went on explaining to them I did not have to wait for more kids to come to start the children’s service because God is already here with us.
You see people think they have to wait until more people show up to church or an event to get it going. NO. Understand that God is pleased with the worship that you give him as long as you are giving him your all and not just the leftovers. God does not need a football stadium full of people to give him the glory. You can be in your room and God is there.
One thing I do not get is why wait for more people to show up for something when the time is ticking. If people do not show up then they do not show. The important thing is that God is there in the midst of it all. Just like on a wedding day, the bride and the groom will not wait for people to come as long as the bride and groom show up.
I went on explaining to the children that it does not matter where you are on earth, you still can worship God. No matter how many people is there with you. Furthermore, I explained that they do not need a building to give God the glory you know why? Because we are the church. So the moral of this is, we are the church and whether one person show up or no one else. Do not be afraid to give God the glory because God is there with you. You do not have to wait until all the seats are filled with people. God will be pleased but do not give God your leftovers.
